A Clinical and Mycological Studies of Superficial Fungal Disease(¥³)





Abstract
Authors performed clinical and mycological studies of superficial fungal disease of 1774 out-patients who have visited the Department of Dermatology, College of Medicine, Chung Ang University, from July, 1983 to June, 1985 and Department of Dermatology, Yong San Hospital, Chung Ang University, from July, 1984 to June, 1985.¢¥
The results were as follows:
1) The incidence of superficial fungal disease was 18.6¢¥0 of total out-patients.
2) The superficial fungal disease showed high incidence the third decade (32.9¡Æ0) and the fourth decade (30.2¡Æ0).
3) The ratio of male to female was 1.98: 1.
4) Monthly prevalence of superficial fungal diseases was high in August(16.3%), July (14.6%) and September Q 1. 3%).
5) The incidence of superficial fungal disease were Tinea pedis(38. 1%), Tinea cruris (19.4%), Tinea versicolor(10.3%), Onychomycosis(10.0%), Candidiasis(9.2%), Tinea corporis (6.7%), Tinea manus(5.6%), and Tinea capitis(0.6%).
6) Coexisting fungal infection were found in 426 patients (24.0%), and a case of Tinea pedis with Onychomycosis was the most common.
7) Positive rate of KOH scraping was 62.4%, and positive rate of culture on ordinary Sabouraud¢¥s dextrose agar media was 40.2%.
8) Candida albicans(39.5%), Trichophyton rubrum(29.6%), Trichophyton mentagrophytes (28.2%), Epidermophyton floccosum(1.4%), Microsporum canis(1.1%) and Trichophyton ferrunigeum(0.2%) were isolated in superficial fungal disease.
